Attorney Eric Swanson is a former assistant director of compliance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the husband of Shana Madoff, niece of former NASDAQ director Bernard Madoff. In December 2008, Bernard Madoff was charged with securities fraud in connection with his alleged involvement in a $50 billion Ponzi scheme. Swanson reportedly headed an SEC investigative team looking into the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities financial advisory firm years before the Ponzi allegations surfaced.
