17-year-old Eric Mohat of Mentor, Ohio, committed suicide in 2007. His parents believe his death was a result of excessive bullying at his school. On March 27, 2009, William and Janis Mohat filed a lawsuit against the Mentor Public School District for allegedly knowing about the bullying occuring in their schools, but not taking any action to protect the bullied children. At least three other children in Mohat's class are believed to have committed suicide because of bullying.
William and Janis Mohat are not seeking any financial compensation. They only seek for the school's admission that Mohat's death was a result of "bullicide," and to organize a anti-bullying program for the school.
