The forward's first full NHL season came in 2008-09, but got his first taste of the NHL on January 18, 2006 against the Florida Panthers. He was called up from Washington's American Hockey League affiliate Hershey Bears three times and played in 11 games for the Caps in 2005-06, including the last eight games of the regular season. Fehr scored his second career NHL playoff goal in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal on April 18 against the Montreal Canadiens.
