• K. Eric Drexler is an American engineer who is generally recognized as the godfather of nanotechnology.
  • Grey Goo

Drexler use the term "grey goo" to describe a potential nanotechnology doomsday scenario. In the scenario, nanomachines would gain the ability to replicate without limit, and use up all the resources on the planet, turning the Earth into a sea of grey goo. In recent years, Drexler has distanced himself from the statement, stating that he does not think that this scenario is even remotely likely.
