Eric Bruntlett is a Major League Baseball (MLB) shortstop with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Early Life
Eric Kevin Bruntlett was born in Lafayette, Indiana on March 29, 1978. He would attend Harrison High School where he would be selected to the All-Indiana team in baseball as well as football. He would move on to attend Stanford University where he would help the Cardinals reach the College World Series. He would be named in 1999 and 2000 to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team
Pro Career
Bruntlett would be selected in the 72nd round of the 1996 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he would elect to attend College. He would be drafted again in 2000, this time in the Ninth round of the draft by the Houston Astros. He would make his major league debut on June 27, 2003 with the Astros. He would shuttle back and forth between the minors and the major leagues, filling in for injured players. In 2007, Bruntlett would be traded to the Philadelphia Phillies with Brad Lidge for Michael Bourn, Mike Costanzo, and Geoff Geary.
