Eric Braeden

Born Hans Jorg Gudegast, Eric Braeden was born April 3, 1941 in Kiel, Germany. He grew up in Germany but in 1959 he immigrated to the United States. He remains proud of his German roots and in fact holds dual citizenship in both countries.

Eric Braeden is known for his role as Victor Newman in the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. He is considered a senior cast member since he has played this role since 1980. He won a Daytime Emmy for this role in 1998. He has also won multiple Soap Opera Digest Awards. Braeden has received seventeen nominations as well.

Beyond his role in The Young and the Restless, Eric Braeden has appeared in a multitude of film and television roles. His first role was in 1961 in the film Operation Eichmann. Since then he has appeared in films such as Dayton's Devils, 100 Rifles and Escape from the Planet of the Apes. His television credits include The Rat Patrol, Hawaii Five-O, Kojak and many, many others.

Eric Braden was married to his wife Dale in 1966. They have one child, Christian Gudegast.
