On October 1, 1982 an addition to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida opened. EPCOT was the acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. This section of the park was originally called EPCOT Center.

This one area is where the International community comes together in the theme park. There are movies that have been especially made for viewing at the Epcot center. There are restaurants and areas inside Epcot that are representing eleven additional countries. The countries that are showcased in the pavilions are China, France, Japan, Morocco, Germany, United Kingdom, Mexico, Norway United States of America, Italy, Canada and Norway. With EPCOT the whole world is gathered in one spot.

There have been many movies that have been made and shown only at Epcot. One such movie was the movie named Captain EO. CAptain EO ran from 1986 until 1994 This movie starred Michael Jackson and it was Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and produced by George Lucas.http://www.captaineo.com/

Another such attraction is the Honey I Shrunk the Audience show. This show runs 18 minutes long and is based on the movie Honey I shrunk the Kids This attraction opened in 1994 and starred Rick Moranis.

Other attractions that can be found at Epcot. There are shows on outer space like Mission Space this attraction with the movement and sounds as well as the visual input takes you on a mission in space starting with the launch and taking you through to weightlessness. The program has different outcomes because it is based on the work that the mission team does during the trip.

There is currently the high flying show called Soarin where you soar above mountains and seashores, deserts and other California landscapes. The movement of the seats will help with your feeling of being able to soar.

Visit Club Cool, located near Innovations West, to sample free ice-cold beverages. Sponsored by Coca-Cola, Club Cool lets visitors sample soft drinks from around the world. With exotic flavors like watermelon and lychee, Club Cool is the perfect place to escape the scorching Florida sunshine.

Epcot's annual Food and Wine festival begins on September 25 and continues through November 8, 2009. Not only does the festival feature exotic cuisine from around the world, the Food and Wine Festival has its own concert series known as "Eat to the Beat", and the "Race For the Taste" family friendly 10k and 3k races.
