As of recently there is some speculative talk about downloadable content (DLC). Paul Wedgewood of iD has stated that they 'have a plan' but still need time to make sure everything is working properly. Steve Nix of iD has claimed that there are much larger problems with creating new maps due to complexity of Megatexture. Nix did not completely rule out weapons or vehicles, instead stating that the problem lies mainly in gameplay balance issues. He has stated there is no plans for new content yet. This has been the only inkling that there is a possibility of downloads for the consoles. Most people are hoping for new multi-player maps, although this seems improbable, or new weapons or vehicles. The trend for many games that feature online play is to eventually add in some extra content after the game has been released for a couple months and iD's statement makes it appear that there could be DLC in the future.
