The 62nd annual Emmy Awards were held on Sunday, August 29, 2010, and aired live on NBC from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California. The Emmy Awards recognize excellence in primetime television, including the top shows, actors, actresses and others that work behind the scenes.
The 2010 Emmy Awards were hosted by comedian and Late Night host Jimmy Fallon. The nominations were announced in the early morning of July 8, 2010, at a ceremony held at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre.
HBO led all other networks in total nominations, with 101. ABC came in second with 63 nominations and CBS ranked third with 57. Backstage at the Emmys
For the first time in Emmy history, the Awards were streamed live backstage footage as the Emmy show aired. According to Emmys.com, seven different cameras were positioned backstage at the Emmy Awards ceremony to "capture exciting moments and candid reactions" from TV celebrities. George Clooney Humanitarian Award
Actor George Clooney received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2010 Emmys. According to the Emmys, this award recognizes an individual "whose humanitarian work has brought credit to the industry and whose deeds and actions have a lasting impact on society." Clooney was honored this year "in recognition of his exceptional efforts to mobilize the entertainment industry in service during crises."
