  • Emma Watson is an English actress. Her first role was that of Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

    On Friday September 4, 2009 Emma Watson and the class of 2013 attend freshman orientation at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

    Watson told a British magazine in February 2009 that though she would consider taking a role with nudity if it made sense and enriched the role, the 18-year-old actress says she is actually "embarrassed" with the idea of being sexy.     Watson was born in Paris in 1990. Her parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson are both lawyers. Watson stayed in France until she was five years old, then moved to Oxford, England with her mother and brother after her parents divorced. She started acting in school plays at the age of 10. She had never acted professionally before the Harry Potter series.
  • Rise to Fame

    In 1999, when Watson was just nine years old, she auditioned to play Hermione Granger for the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone film. After eight auditions, she was chosen for the role. The film debuted in 2001, and was the highest grossing film of that year. Watson was nominated for five awards, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress for her role.
  • Other Work

    In 2007 Watson starred in a made for television movie Ballet Shoes as Paulline Fossil. She also provided the voice of Princess Pea for the animated film The Tale of Despereaux which was released in December 2008.
