Plot Synopsis
Emma is an affluent young girl who is convinced that while she herself will never settle down enough to marry, she has a knack for matchmaking others. She sets out to match her new friend, the sweet but dull Harriet Smith, with Mr. Elton, the local vicar. Her plans go awry when Elton rejects Harriet in favor of Emma, who in turn rejects Elton. Through a complex series of love interests and attempts by Emma to matchmake, things eventually work out for Emma and the members of her social circle. -
