"Not Afraid" was the first single by rapper Eminem from his 2010 album, Recovery. The single, which was released on April 29, 2010, debuted at the number one spot in the Billboard Hot 100 on May 22, 2010, which was only the second rap single ever to achieve that.

Eminem performed "Not Afraid" at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010. He also won the awards for Best Male Video and Best Rap Video for the track, but left the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California, after his performance and was not around to accept the awards.

The music video of the single, was aired on the EminemVEVO YouTube channel on June 4, 2010. On the first day after its release, the music video was viewed well over one million times, instantly making it the #1 most viewed music video in many countries, including Europe and the United States. As of June 15, "Not Afraid" was also the #2 most viewed video on YouTube.com worldwide, both for music as on YouTube as a whole.

Recovery is the second album by the Detroit rapper after a three year musical gap, in which Eminem was rumored to consider quitting his career. However, in 2009, Eminem announced he would release two new albums, initially called "Relapse" and "Relapse 2".
