Emerson Drive is a five-piece Country music group from Canada, who scored their first #1 single with the hit song "Moments," off their 2006, album Countrified. The group consists of Danick Dupelle, Brad Mates, Mike Melancon, David Pichette and Dale Wallace. The band's former bass guitarist, Patrick Bourque, committed suicide in 2007.
The Evolution of Emerson Drive
The band was known as 12 Gauge back in the 1990s. In 1996, they released their first album Open Season. Work on their next album Until You Walk the Tracks, began the following year. The band had minor success in Canada, but their real success came when they moved to Nashville. Once there they discovered that the name 12 Gauge was already registered to a rap group. They settled on the name Emerson Drive after a road named Emerson Trail.
Patrick Bourque
In August, 2007, Patrick Bourque resigned from the band. On September 25, of that same year, he was found dead in his home in Montreal, Quebec. His former bandmates learned of his death while on the road to a concert in Nebraska. Lead singer, Brad Mates, later revealed that Bouque's death was a suicide.
