Candle in the Wind was written by Elton John in 1973 as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe and was re-written in 1997 as a tribute to Princess Diana. Elton John sung the song at Diana's funeral and CD single quickly became the highest selling single in the United Kingdom of all-time.
