Ellen Kuras

Ellen Kuras is an American cinematographer.

Career

While studying Egyptology at Brown University, Ellen Kuras took a photography course which piqued her interest. Years later, when the cinematographer who was supposed to shoot Samsara: Death and Rebirth in Cambodia bowed out of the project, Kuras was hired on.Yahoo! Though initially a documentary cinematographer, Kuras won three awards at the Sundance Film Festival for shooting dramatic films. Two of them, Angela and Personal Velocity: Three Portraits, were directed by Rebecca Miller, who Kuras continues to collaborate with.

Kuras has also worked extensively with director Michel Gondry. His 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind earned Kuras an Online Film Critics Society Award nomination for "Best Cinematography."IMDb: Ellen Kuras Awards
