Elizabeth Shelton is the daughter of Texas state District Judge Pat Shelton. In December 2008, she filed a lawsuit against the driver of a box truck that she rear-ended during an accident in 2007. During the initial trial, Shelton's defense attorney's brought in experts to testify that the driver of the box truck swerved in front of her. In addition, it has come to light that the company owning the truck had allowed the insurance to lapse. Shelton is suing the company that owns the box car, the insurance company, the driver of the truck as well as banks involved in financing.
