Elizabeth McGovern is an American film and television actress who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1982 for her role in the film adaptation of the E.L. Doctorow novel Ragtime. She has since appeared in dozens of films and television shows.

Brief Biography
Born in 1961 to a Northwestern University law professor, her family moved to Los Angeles upon her father's move to a job at UCLA, and McGovern caught the acting bug. She made her screen debut in the critically acclaimed 1980 Robert Redford film Ordinary People. In 1984, she starred in the film Racing with the Moon with Sean Penn, and a romance with the co-star blossomed into a brief engagement. McGovern starred alongside Kevin Bacon in the popular 1988 John Hughes comedy She's Having a Baby, and has since appeared in many period films. McGovern currently resides in England with her husband, Simon Curtis.
