Elizabeth Blackburn

Elizabeth Blackburn is one of three Americans who were awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Blackburn, Carol Greider and Jack Szostak were awarded the Nobel Prize on October 5, 2009, for their discovery of a specific enzyme that relates to aging. The trio discovered "how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and the enzyme telomerase."
