Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a former Survivor contestant and current co-host of ABC's daytime talk show The View. Hasselbeck provides a conservative Republican voice to the show, often combating the show's more liberal hosts. Early Life
Hasselbeck was born in Rhode Island in 1977 to a Catholic school teacher and an architect. She received a Fine Arts degree from Boston College in 1999.
Survivor: Australia
Hasselbeck was cast for Survivor: Australia in 2001 and finished fourth overall in the competition. A fan favorite, Hasselbeck parlayed her Survivor fame into a successful television career, hosting Style Network's Look For Less and eventually becoming a co-host on The View.
Hasselbeck Upset with View
On September 29, 2008, a staff member from The View told reporters that Hasselbeck was "really upset" with her co-hosts regarding the 2008 Election. A cooling off period between Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar was called by Barbara Walters to settle the conservative versus liberal arguments that have surfaced.
