New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has admitted involvement with a prostitution ring. He apologized publicly on March 10, 2008, and announced his resignation on March 12, effective on Monday, March 17. Assemblyman James Tedisco had said that if Spitzer did not resign within 48 hours, he would call for his impeachment. He will be replaced by Lt. Gov. David Paterson.
