Baseball Career
Despite signing a National Letter of Intent to play at North Carolina State University, Dukes choose to forgo college baseball after the Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the third round of the 2002 amateur draft. After five years as a prospect in the Rays minor league system, Dukes made his major league debut on April 2, 2007. That season, Dukes hit .190 batting average, with 10 home run and 21 runs batted In. The following season, the Rays traded Dukes to the Nationals for Glenn Gibson.
