Elias Koteas was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on March 11, 1961. He first garnered national attention for his performance as a skinhead in the teen romance Some Kind of Wonderfull in 1987. He continued to carve out a career as a character actor in such films a Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the independent hit film Exotica. He has since become one of the most sought after character actors appearing in such high profile projects as the David Fincher directed films Zodiac and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button In 2009, he appears in the Martin Scorsese film Shutter Island.
