Early Life
Born and raised in Maine, Pariser attended Simon's Rock College and graduated with a Bachelor's in Political Science. After the 9/11 attacks, Pariser created an online petition at 9-11peace.org calling for "moderation and restraint," rather than a massive military response. The success of his petition, which received over half a million signatures in only two weeks, caught the attention of Wes Boyd, the founder of MoveOn, a progressive website hatched in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
MoveOn
Boyd named Pariser the director of MoveOn's international campaigns, and during the approach of the United States invasion of Iraq, MoveOn, under Pariser's leadership, helped organize protests against the war across the nation. Pariser is today Executive Director of MoveOn.org and he continues to guide the organization as it campaigns and raises money for progressive candidates and causes.
