  • Elephants are the largest land animal in the world today. There are two types of elephants, the African elephants and the Asian elephants.
  • Asian Elephants

    Asian elephants differ from African elephants in size and have noticeably smaller ears. Only the male species have tusks, females do not. Asian elephants are an endangered species it is estimated that there are between 25,600 to 32,750 left in the wild and over 15,000 in captivity.   • African Elephants

    African elephants have larger ears that Asian elephants, have less hair and concave backs. There are approximately 470,000 to 690,000 elephants in the African wild. They can be found roaming freely through 37 different African countries.Panda.org: African elephants
