Fox Searchlight has optioned the Tom Wolfe novel Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test with Gus Van Sant attached to direct and Dustin Lance Black on board for the adaptation.
The 1968 novel by Tom Wolfe revolved around a group known as the Merry Pranksters, which included writer Ken Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest). As the Merry Prankster drove across the country in a DayGlo-painted school bus named "Furthur" they experimented with LSD and other psychedelic drugs during their journey.
