  • Exploring Reventador

El Reventador is a popular attraction for hikers, but it's a trip that requires preparation and caution. Travelers are advised to retain a local guide, and should understand that treks can take 4 to 5 days to complete. The trails through the Amazon Rainforest are thick and become quickly overgrown, necessitating the use of a machete. The hiking trail begins near the San Rafael waterfalls and winds up the mountain. Due to volcanic activity in 2008, tourism is not advised. The Best of Ecuador: Reventador Trek
