  • Eid Al Adha

Eid al Adha is the biggest religious festival of the Muslim community. Eid al Adha is also called the festival of sacrifice. In the history of this day, Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) went to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismael (Ismail) in order to keep his word to Allah (God). Since that time, Muslims celebrate this day as both a tradition and a duty to Allah. This festival lasts four or more days, depending on the country in which it is celebrated.

It marks the end of the annual pilgrimage (Hajj) of muslims all over the world to the holy city (Mecca of Saudi Arabia). In Islam, it is considered one of the main duties for those who have the physical and financial ability to do this. The Eid al Adha is celebrated 2 months and 10 days after the first Eid, Eid al fitr. The expected date for Eid al adha in 2009 is November 27.
