  • Eels is a American rock group that was put together by Mark Oliver Everett. After Everett had a brief solo career, he formed the band with Tommy Walter and Jonathan Norton (although other members of the band would change frequently throughout the Eels' career). They became one the first groups to sign with Dreamworks Records and released their debut album Beautiful Freak in 1996. The record included one of their best-known singles, "Novocaine for the Soul." The band enjoyed greater success in Europe than America with its subsequent releases.

Eels songs have appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including Shrek, Scream, Scrubs, Hot Fuzz, and Shrek the Third.
