Eek-a-Mouse is a Jamaican dancehall star who created a reggae sub-genre called "singjaying."
Born Ripton Hylton, he took the stage name "Eek-a-Mouse" in 1979. It was the name of a racehorse he always bet on.
Eek-a-Mouse is a tireless touring artist and perennial favorite at Jamaica's Reggae Sunsplash Festival, where he turned in a memorable set shortly following reggae legend Bob Marley's death in 1981.
He is featured on the rock-reggae track "Ridiculous" on P.O.D.'s Satellite album and exercised his acting chops as "Fat Smitty" in the 1991 film New Jack City.
