Edwin Chittick

  • Edwin Chittick is a Long Island, New York City police officer who was shot by Cecil Ramsay, a retired police officer, on April 11, 2009. Ramsay believed Chittick was having an affair with his wife, Dady Belfort, also a police officer. Chittick and Belfort drove away from the scene and Ramsay shot into the car and then turned the car on himself.   • Shooting on Long Island

    On the morning of April 11, 2009, Cecil Ramsay confronted his wife Dady Belfort and Edwin Chittick in the Ramsay home in West Babylon, Long Island. He accused the pair of having an affair; Chittick and Belfort left the house and drove away. Ramsay fired three shots into the car, striking Chittick in the hand.

    Cecil Ramsay, who had a heart condition and was waiting for a transplant, shot himself in the head and died instantly.
