Edwin A. Salt is the tentative title of an espionage thriller film directed by Philip Noyce and reportedly starring Angelina Jolie.

Wrongly accused of being a Russian spy assigned to assassinate the U.S. President, a CIA agent must avoid capture in order to prove her innocence.

In August 2008, Variety reported that Angelina Jolie was "close to a deal" to replace Tom Cruise as the title character. The change required a change in the film's title and a redraft of the screenplay.

According to FOX News, which erroneously reported that Will Smith would assume the title role, Cruise bowed out of the project because of a dispute over his $20 million salary.
