With the announcement of the withdrawal of John Edwards from the 2008 U.S. presidential race, there was speculation as to whether or not he would endorse Senator Barack Obama or Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Edwards reportedly has no plans to endorse either candidate in the near future, but he has asked both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton to pledge to make poverty a priority in their administration.
