Edward James Olmos is an American born Latino actor and director. From 2003 to 2008, Olmos starred as Admiral William Adama on the Sci-Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactica.
Professional Career
Olmos got in the early 1970s working in theater and film. His performance in a play called Zoot Suit earned Olmos a Tony nomination, and the play was eventually turned into a film in 1981. In 1982, Olmos played the role of the mysterious police officer Gaff in Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner, alongside Harrison Ford. In 1984, Olmos achieved mainstream success after taking on the role of "Lieutenant Martin Castillo" on the TV show Miami Vice alongside Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas. He received an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1985 for his portrayal of Castillo. In 1988, Olmos was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar after starring in Stand and Deliver, the true story of a math teacher named "Jaime Escalante".IMDb: Edward James Olmos Filmography
