Edward Herrmann began his acting career in the classic films The Great Gatsby and The Paper Chase. In 1976, Hermman won a Tony Award for Best Actor in the play Mrs. Warren's Profession. Most recently he has appeared on the television shows Gilmore Girls and Grey's Anatomy.
