On April 3, 2009, Cardinal Egan was admitted to St. Vincent's hospital in New York City. Three days later, doctors there said Egan needed a pacemaker. On April 2, 2009, Cardinal Egan recorded his last radio program of "A Conversation with the Cardinal" on Sirius's Catholic Channel.
