Synopsis
The Education of Charlie Banks is an independent film which is a cautionary tale about an unlikely relationship between Charlie, played by Jesse Eisenberg, and Mick, played by Jason Ritter. Charlie is a typical college student. His life is turned upside down by the arrival of Mick, a childhood acquaintance known for his violent and illegal tendencies. Against his will, Mick invades Charlie's social circle which starts a chain of events that threatens to bubble over into violence. Official Site: The Education of Charlie BanksReview Quotes
- "It's not hard to see what Durst --whose music wraps moralistic pleas in raucous metal-rap -- saw in screenwriter Peter Elkoff's story: the chance for a rocker in indie-flick waters to show a brute's sensitive side yet revel in his casual menace. And if the normally appealing Eisenberg seems stuck in jangly nerd gear, Durst effectively showcases in Ritter the anything's-possible elements roiling in Mick."—LA TimesLA Times: Review: The Education of Charlie Banks (March 27, 2009)
- "At first glance The Education of Charlie Banks seems a nostalgic coming-of-age drama about facing fears and forming character. But if you narrow your eyes and tilt your head, you'll see quite a different story: a prickly examination of the sturdiness of class boundaries and the illusion of inclusion."—NY TimesNY Times: Movie Review The Education of Charlie Banks (March 27, 2009)
