Sherman's photo studio is located in the Carnegie Hall, a concert hall in New York City which is a historical landmark. Sherman moved into the apartment in 1947. Eviction Notice
After receiving the eviction notice, Sherman said that she refused to leave. The Carnegie Hall has offered to pay for relocation expenses and pay the difference in rent between the rent controlled space in Carnegie Hall and the apartment where she moves for the rest of her life.
