Adam "Edge" Copeland is a professional wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Edge currently wrestles on WWE's SmackDown brand.
On May 17, 2009, Edge defeated Jeff Hardy for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt on WWE's pay-per-view Judgment Day.
History
Edge made his WWE debut in 1998 as a singles competitor, winning the Intercontinental Title in 1999. In 2000, Edge teamed with his storyline brother Christian. The tag team of Edge and Christian would go on to win the Tag Team Title on numerous occasions. Edge has won a record 12 tag titles in the WWE. Edge has also found success as a singles main event wrestler. He has won a total of four World Titles and has feuded with top stars such as John Cena, Randy Orton, and The Undertaker.
Affair
In 2005, Edge came under fire from fans after having a real life affair with Amy Dumas (Lita in the WWE). Dumas was the girlfriend of Matt Hardy, who was also a close friend of Edge. The affair began while Dumas was out of action with an injury. After the affair became public news, Hardy was released by the WWE. This resulted in more hatred from the fans toward both Edge and Dumas. However, when Matt Hardy returned to the WWE, the real life affair was turned into an on-screen storyline.
