Eddie Bonine

Eddie Bonine is a right-handed professional Major League Baseball pitcher. In the off-season, he and his wife Nikki make their home in Glendale, Arizona. He was born on June 14, 2008 in Columbus, Georgia and attended Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale, Arizona.

He was drafted by the [[Arizona Diamondbacks in the 20th round of the 2001 Amateur Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign. Eddie attended the University of Nevada and was then drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 23rd round of the 2003 MLB draft.

In December of 2005 he was drafted from the Padres by the Detroit Tigers in the Rule 5 Draft. While in the Detroit organization he has pitched at Single A, Lakeland, Double A, Erie, Triple A, Toledo and with the parent club Detroit Tigers.

He allowed 6 runs in 5 innings, and was rewarded with his first Major League win.

Eddie Bonine 2010 Season

After the conclusion of Spring Training with the Tigers in Lakeland, Florida, Eddie received word he had made the Detroit 25 man Active roster. Manager Jim Leyland has indicated he plans to use Eddie in long relief and occasionally as a spot starter.

Early in the season Eddie has performed his role to near-perfection. He has 2 wins against 0 losses and has held opponents to a .190 batting average. His 0.92 WHIP is one of the best on the team and he has pitched strictly in relief. June 06, 2010 - Eddie has developed into one of the Tigers' most consistent relievers. Along with his fastball, curve, slider and change he has developed an effective knuckleball. After 56 games Eddie has appeared 21 times and sports a 1.64 ERA. Opponents are hitting only .189 against him in 27 innings pitched.

Eddie Bonine 2009 Season

Eddie made the Tigers opening Day roster out of Spring training, but was optioned to Triple A Toledo on April 24th. He was called up three times from Toledo during the season.

His first call-up was for a spot start against the Chicago White Sox on July 24th and he was optioned back to Toledo after the game.

He was recalled from Toledo on August 14th, but did not appear in a game and was sent back on August 18th.

When rosters were expanded, he was called up on September 1st and spent the rest of the season with the parent club. He made three starts compiling a 1-1 record and 2.70 ERA. 2008 - Eddie made his Major League debut on June 14, 2008, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He spent most of the year with the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens, beginning the season with victories in his first eight starts. In April, he was selected Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Month.
