Ed Swiderski was the final remaining bachelor on the fifth season of the reality television show The Bachelorette. He became known as the bachelor who walked away from love and Jillian Harris, in lieu of keeping his technology consulting job. Ultimately he took a risk, returned, and won her heart.
On July 31, 2009, while planning his wedding to Harris, news broke that Swiderski was sending sexy text messages to his former girlfriend, Bethany Steffen, during the show and after he won Harris' heart.http://www.examiner.com/x-11955-Business-of-Being-Famous-Examiner~y2009m7d31-Jillian-Harris-Ed-Swinderski-Bethany-Steffen-and-The-Bachelorette-Its-a-sexting-mess
Harris stood by her man and moved in with him in Chicago. They planned to make an announcement on the premiere episode of The Bachelor: On The Wings of Love, regarding their wedding date, but that did not happen. Swiderski made an appearance on the show and gave the latest Bachelor Jake Pavelka advice on which ladies deserved a rose that night.
Engagement Update
After the wedding plan news, to Jillian Harris, was removed from the couples Bachelor appearance, fans wondered if the two were still an item. Harris was quoted in April 2010, as saying, "We are definitely in love and we definitely are going to be married. We’re hoping it will be in the next year or two. We’re both excited."http://www.current-movie-reviews.com/people/2010/04/11/jillian-harris-insists-shes-still-engaged-to-ed-swiderski-with-no-date-set/
Career
Swiderski left his position at Microsoft, for a chance to find love on The Bachelorette. Half way through the show, he left, because he was afraid he would lose his job. A few weeks later, he returned and asked Jillian if he could rejoin the show, and she accepted. No mention was made to whether or not he remained employed, but he ultimately was chosen to be Harris' fiance over Kiptyn Locke and Reid Rosenthal.
Judith Elliott Quote
"He had just gotten this job [with Microsoft]. He wanted to keep it. I guess maybe he didn’t expect to go as far [on the show] as he did. He could have chosen her and then not been the one in the end anyway. There are still seven or eight guys left. And besides, how could she know if she really wanted him if he didn’t have a job?"http://www.examiner.com/x-11850-Bachelorette-Examiner~y2009m6d16-After-leaving-Jillian-Bachelorette-suitor-Ed-Swiderski-unavailable-for-interviews-Will-he-return
