Ed Sullivan held a unique position of power as the host of a television show that introduced America to hundreds of actors, singers, comedians, and musicians. He had strict ideas about what should and shouldn't be allowed on his show, resulting in conflicts over censorship with The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and Buddy Holly and the Crickets. On the other hand, he became a friend and champion to both The Beatles and Elvis Presley.
