About the Game
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is intended to be an over-the-top parody of action game cliches. It tells the fictional story of Matt Hazard, a one-time video game hero who starred in numerous games. Beginning in 1987, Matt appeared in games such as The Adventures of Hazard Land, Matt Hazard 3D, You Only Live 1317 Times and Murder Force. As the years rolled by, Matt's career went the way of many former video game heroes. He began appearing in cutesie games like the Nintendo 64's Haz Matt Carts. Was this the death knell for Matt's career? However, he soon finds out that he will no longer be the action hero taking out enemies in waves of gratuitous violence. Instead, Matt is the prey and the game's programmers are the enemy. In the game, the character of Matt Hazard is voiced by Will Arnett, star of the Fox sitcom Arrested Development and regular special guest on NBC's 30 Rock. Neil Patrick Harris of Doogie Howser, M.D. and How I Met Your Mother fame provides the voice of the game's villain.
