Easy A Movie Reviews

Easy A is a 2010 teen comedy film starring Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes. The movie tells the story of teenager Olive Penderghast (Stone), a straight-arrow high school student who uses her school's rumor mill to try and become more popular. Olive, without purposefully meaning to, starts a rumor about herself: that she has lost her virginity. What follows is a series of events very similar to those of the character Hester Prynne in the classic novel The Scarlet Letter (which Olive and her classmates are reading).http://www.letsnotandsaywedid.com/site/ Easy A was directed by Will Gluck. The movie also stars Dan Byrd, Thomas Haden Church, Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Cam Gigandet and Lisa Kudrow. "As far as teen comedies informed by 10th-grade English syllabi go, Easy A, partly inspired by "The Scarlet Letter," is remedial ed compared with "Clueless" and "10 Things I Hate About You."— Melissa Anderson, Village Voicehttp://www.villagevoice.com/2010-09-15/film/easy-a-a-waste-of-emma-stone/

"The movie belongs to Stone, that gorgeous, husky-voiced redhead. When most actors deliver nonstop patter, their mouths get ahead of their minds, but Stone’s brain works so fast that her mouth can barely keep up."— David Edelstein, New York Magazinehttp://nymag.com/movies/reviews/68101/index1.html

"The script...seems to have been run through an out-of-control sass machine (seriously, it'll make you appreciate Diablo Cody's tact)."— Joshua Rothkopf, Time Out New Yorkhttp://newyork.timeout.com/articles/film/89070/easy-a-film-review
