Eastern Promises 2 is the sequel of the highly acclaimed 2007 crime drama Eastern Promises from director David Cronenberg. The original film starred Naomi Watts as a midwife who runs afoul of the Russian Mafia while searching for the family of an orphaned baby. Viggo Mortensen portrays Nikolai Luzhin, who becomes an unlikely ally of the Watts character. According to early reports, both Mortensen and Cronenberg will return for the sequel; the potential involvement of Watts is unknown.
This will be Cronenberg and Mortensen's fourth straight film together. The two of them have also begun planning The Talking Cure with Keira Knightley, Vincent Cassell and Michael Fassbender, which enters production in May of 2010.
