Hamming it up

So lets tackle one of the basics:

  • If you're going to make the traditional Easter Ham, here's what you need to know:
  • Ingredients needed include: a spiral cut smoked ham (usually 7 pounds, some places you'll need to pre-order for best selection), a baking pan, 1/2 cup each of honey, brown sugar, orange juice, and pear juice, and three pineapple slices.
  • You'll want to pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and place the ham in the pan, with the cut end down. Mix the pear and orange juices in a bowl. When the oven temperature reaches 375, begin baking the ham and basting the juices frequently.
  • While this is happening, mix the brown sugar and honey together in a small bowl. Eventually you brush this mixture over the ham and bake it for another hour or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees.
  • When finished, garnish it with pineapple slices.
