Earthworm Jim is a 1994 platformer developed by Shiny Entertainment. The game is the first installment in the Earthworm Jim series featuring Jim, an earthworm who battles evil in a robotic suit.

Earthworm Jim wasn't always a superhero. At the game's beginning, Jim is a normal earthworm, living his life in peace. However, while the evil Psy-Crow is transporting a powerful suit to his Queen master, the suit falls from space, landing on Jim. Full transformed, Jim becomes a superhero worm with powerful abilities. Jim sets out to stop Psy-Crow and his master, “Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-butt.”

Earthworm Jim is powerful superhero, capable of many different attacks and maneuvers. You can use Jim's blaster gun, and use his body as a whip, swinging to normally unreachable locations. Throughout the game there are boss enemies, such as Major Mucus, Evil the Cat and Bob the Killer Goldfish. Additionally, as has become part of Earthworm Jim's distinctive style, the levels will have you completing all manner of strange criteria in order to progress. For instance, in one level you'll need to evade a small puppy turned into an evil dog, and another will have you launching cows.
