Earth Hour 2008 was a worldwide event sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund. Going by their local time, people were encouraged to turn off the lights in their home for one hour at 8PM on March 29. The gesture was supposed to symbolize individual commitment to global solutions for climate change.

Criticism
