Earth Day is a global celebration of the planet earth, held every year on April 2nd. Earth Day 2010 marks the 40th year that Earth Day has been celebrated. Conceived by former Senator Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day is celebrated by one billion people in 174 countries around the globe. The first Earth Day was held in 1970.
