Criticisms
Earth Day had a big impact at the time of its inception, as non-violent protest was a large part of American culture.America.gov: What is Earth Day? (April 16, 2008) But there are those that claim that Earth Day has lost some of its potency since it's spirited 1970s beginnings. Claims of commercialization of the environmental movement have lead critics to state that Earth Day has become the exception that proves the rule. For some, Earth Day has become little more than an excuse to ignore the other 364 days of environmental apathy.WorldChanging.com: Make This Earth Day Your Last! (April 19, 2007)-
