Earl Barron

Earl Barron is a currently a professional basketball player for the New York Knicks.

Barron left the University of Memphis after four years and went undrafted, this prompted him to travel and play for the Tuborg Pilsener in the Turkish Basketball League. After some time there he decided to come back to the states and try out for a few professional teams. It appeared that he had finally found a long term team after playing with the Miami Heat from 2005-2008, during which he won a championship although he was inactive for the entire postseason. Despite the successful season, he was not resigned by the Heat and after not making the Hornets squad in 2009 he played for the NBADL (Development League).

Barron has played for a total of nine teams during his basketball career spanning from Italy to Turkey to Miami, and New York. If he does not find success with the Knicks this season, he may be headed back overseas permanently.

After playing for the NBADL nearly the entire season, Barron was signed by the New York Knicks to a ten-day contract.

Although only playing seven games, Barron put up career numbers in his first few games, getting a career high in rebounds (18) along the way; the Knicks would sign him for the rest of the year shortly after.

Barron is a classic example of what the Knicks high paced offense can do to bring out the best in players. Barron averaged a double-double (11 points and 11 rebounds) during his short stint with the Knicks last year.

Due to these stats, he has all but locked up the position of starting center on the New York Knicks for the upcoming 2010/11 season. His only competition is Eddy Curry, and Curry has been plagued with injuries for the last two years.http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/barroea01.html
